EP & LP WEST HOLLYWOOD

Looking for a great place for dinner in LA? How about a few great cocktails on a chic rooftop bar with your night out?

Well cease your search my friends we’ve found a place, EP & LP in West Hollywood, that ticks all the boxes.

Open just last May, this hot new venue is has a lot of Aussie talent behind it with Chef Louis Tikaram, formerly of Longrain, at the helm and owners DJ Grant Smilie and David Combes having moved to LA to run things.

It’s a smart venue featuring modern Asian food which is something done so well in Australia, but is more light on the ground in LA.

The Aussie influence continues to the interiors with Projects of Imagination (think Chin Chin in Melbourne) responsible for the cool aesthetic.

So what is this EP/ LP business?

EP Asian Eating House is the restaurant located downstairs. It serves lots of share style dishes, with various Asian influences from Thai, Vietnamese and even Fijian style ceviche!

We enjoyed the Check Yo Neck, which is wood grilled lamb with lettuce, herbs and chilli jam.

You make your own wraps using the lettuce leaves. We also enjoyed the crispy skin chicken, vegetable fried rice and some greens. Very tasty dishes. Fun to share.

LP is the rooftop bar, just a flight of stairs away.

Here you can enjoy great Hollywood views and there is even a fire-pit for cooler nights.  Archer loved the fire-pit. (Archer’s ideal party location is a beach party with a fire-pit, which is pretty much an impossible dream in Australia with our bushfire controls).

Our group enjoyed the cocktails. They were definitely quite strong and can be ordered by the glass or by pitcher. The glasses seemed pretty big to us!

For a rooftop bar, there is a long and impressive wine list on offer. There are even magnums of Champagne available, well this is Hollywood – who knows what you might be celebrating!

There’s also a small food menu up here which is available until late. You can enjoy Duck or Pork Bao, Organic Tofu Fries and Salt and Pepper Squid, to name a few items on offer.

The rooftop is open from 2pm on a Sunday, with a DJ, perfect for a good old Aussie Sunday session if that’s your thing.

This is a great and smart venue. Perfect for a complete night out or a chilled afternoon up in the sunshine on the roof.

Trip Notes:

  • Location –  603 North La Cienega Boulevard, West Hollywood. They have valet if you have a car, but its central to West Hollywood so you can get a taxi/ uber easily.
  • This place would be ideal for events like NYE. We also hear there is an Australia Day party in the works too for any homesick Aussies out there.
  • This place is getting good reviews, so best to book ahead for the restaurant. No need to book for the rooftop.
